Inside The Labs: MVB VI Week 2

The Most Valuable Builder program is back, and we’re taking you behind the scenes!

Over the past two weeks, the Binance Labs-led accelerator program onboarded 12 project teams selected for the Season 6 cohort who are building on BNB Chain. The new season kicked off with masterclasses hosted by Yi He, Co-Founder of Binance and Head of Binance Labs; DeFi Researchers and Blockchain Solution Architects from BNB Chain.

MVB VI Program Roadmap

During our kickoff session with the Binance Labs program team, we shared the 11-week MVB curriculum which is designed to get early-stage projects on BNB Chain ready to build a viable product and reach product-market fit. MVB provides mentorship and masterclasses by leading domain experts, while ushering teams through four key phases of product development.

As the project teams complete Phase 1 with testing and validation of their ideas, here’s a sneak peek into the masterclasses they attended.

Secrets to Success: Key Traits of a Leading BNB Chain Project

Experts from the BNB Chain community shared insights during the Building for The BNB Chain session on key priority areas, how projects can get started on integration, security best practices, and a look into opportunities with BNB Greenfield, a decentralized blockchain storage platform. While each project deployed is unique, BNB Chain researchers identified common traits from successful projects on the BNB Chain:

  • Fill ecosystem gaps - BNB Chain is still a novel chain. It can benefit from new DeFi projects, increased capital utilization on lending, greater LP optimization, and more use cases for BNB liquid staking derivatives (LSD). Find out more in the DeFi Outlook 2023.
  • Understand your user base - Learn about your user vertical’s unique needs and clearly define the problems you’re trying to solve for your users.
  • Offer an innovative solution -  Once you understand the pain points of your target user base, develop a solution alongside your potential customers. If you do this right, you’ll find demand for your product.
  • Leverage the BNB Chain community - BNB Chain is driven by its strong and active community. Demonstrate how you can provide something new and different.
  • Integrate into the ecosystem - Integrate and position yourself as a relevant puzzle piece to the BNB Chain ecosystem.

In a nutshell, BNB Chain is driven by a strong and active community utilizing the network. Learn how to leverage the community, and ship the best product to solve user pain points.

Yi He’s Top 5 Lessons for Building Teams, Culture & Marketing

Are you a founder looking to build a rockstar team and a winning marketing strategy? Binance Co-Founder and Head of Binance Labs, Yi He, has some guiding principles to share.

  1. Values - As founders, align on your values and what you set out to achieve. Observe your users and make it your mission to solve their pain points.
  2. Hiring - When hiring a candidate, look for someone who fits the basic job role but has the right mindset, culture-fit, and passion to drive the brand forward - a CV with name brand companies and universities isn’t everything.
  3. Market Right - Marketing is about effectively delivering the right message through the right channels. Understand your audience, how to reach them, and craft messaging that resonates with them.
  4. Community - Dedicate a team member to build community and trust at any project stage. Always gather feedback and be focused on what users want.
  5. GTM - Tokens are an effective tool to build a loyal user base as you grow with your community, but it also means long lasting responsibility to your users. Focus on launching one token.

Coming up in MVB Phase 2

Phase 2 spanning weeks 3-6 of the accelerator program is where we’ll start to see project teams build an MVP, and refine their product based on user feedback. Founders will begin office hours with their mentors, and continue masterclasses with a round-up of industry veterans. Here’s a preview:
